Is the laptop under warranty? If yes you can contact HP care line and they will assist you in repairing the laptop. If it’s out of warranty you can bring to repair shop and replace the keyboard. The cost is around RM180~280.

For faulty mainboard most of the time not worth to repair for low end laptop, as the replacement part can more expensive than new unit. Is the laptop under warranty? If yes send to HP service center they will replace one for you.
My Compaq Presario CQ40-308TU LCD Screen got problem, the screen keep blinking and there is a Line at the bottom of the screen (start menu) which blinking all the times.

It can be the connector to the main board, inverter or the lcd circuit having problem.
For cable adjust the cost vary from RM80 to RM120, For inverter replacement usually cost RM180 to RM300. For LCD screen it cost RM700 to RM1600
Hello, i have two compaq presario v3000 laptop. both have the same problem. the screen blank when on the power button. keep blank until the windows loading, but when the screen starts showing, the windows only show half of the screen. the other half is blank. it happens several times. sometimes the screens are ok but sometimes not. whats the problem actually?
Sometimes the screen display nothing sometimes display only half and sometimes ok? This is probably cause by loosen connector or broken wire. You can send to laptop repair center for repair.

Hi there, I bought this Hp NB Compaq pressario CQ40 311Au sometimes in March 2009. In April the LCD screen developed a lot of dead pixel lines at the bottom of the screen and the screen now flickering up and down rapidly none stopped. I brought it for the pc technician to check and he told me this is a universal problem with HP brand NB. Sad to hear a big name with a big problematic Notebook. Can any one help me where I can get a LCD replacement in Malaysia?
Some computer repair shop can order and replace the LCD screen for you, but it’s not worth for repair for laptop under RM2000. You may buy a desktop LCD monitor and convert it to be a desktop computer. You can call HP care line 1800-88-8588 for assistance

If the laptop is under warranty proceed to claim warranty, replacing the fan cost around RM180-RM250. It’s normal for fan to stop when standby or cpu temperature is low. When CPU is overheat the computer will slow and off when it’s too hot.
My laptop model v3000 has a display problem. I suspect that the chipset of the LCD screen is broken. 1/4 of my screen in black now and I can’t see the compaq logo screen when I start my laptop. Everything seems fine when I attached a VGA cable to another monitor.

@Prem Replacing the screen is very expensive and most of the time not worth to do it. Cost from RM700 to RM1800. Or you can just buy a desktop LCD monitor, a usb keyboard and mouse and convert it to desktop.
@JB It can be loosen cable or faulty panel, bring it to repair shop to check it out, if it’s only loosen cable it’s won’t be very expensive.

hello I want to asked how to upgrade warranty for Compaq C40? my warranty got 4 month left.
My compaq presario CQ40 is currently out of warranty. And i found that when i plug in the batteries without AC, it cannot be turn on. Only when i plug in the AC then it can be turn on. But even when i turn on, i doesn’t appear BIOS and everything was blank. One of the thing i could notice is that, the both LED white light keep on blinking after the laptop was switched on. 1st LED light is located on top of “Num lk” key, and 2nd LED light located on the side of “Caps Lock” key.
Anyone know what is the problem? By the way, is there any warranty renewal service for compaq laptop?

I own a Compaq Presario V3500 and aged nearly 3 years..now i’m having a problem where the lcd panel appears to only white colour…when i connect it to external monitor the laptop is functioning well…is it because of a faulty lcd or cabling inside…tq

can the screen ever display normally for sometimes? if yes if can be loosen cable. but sometimes can be faulty graphic chip, which need replacing the mainboard most of the time.

ravindra Yes you are probably right, it’s likely cause by faulty hard disk. Backup all personal files to other place (usb thumb drive, cd/dvd, internet) as soon as possible, and send in to repair shop.

i have a laptop hp pavillion dv 6600.Last week my computer crashed while i was playing fm 2011.I restart the laptop and i get this Blue Screen of Death.I can still log on to the safe mode until now.I tried to solve this problem by reformatting it.It was ok until i install the graphic driver ,then this Blue screen problem keep coming back.I sent to computer shop for repair but with no luck.The guys told me that maybe,the graphic card is faulty.He told me to bring to the HP Service centre.Do you how much will it cost for me to change the motherboard at the HP hq?My warranty expired already.Is it worth of money or should i just buy a new laptop?

hello there, I buy the compag laptop 4 mount ago then the battery becomes low after that. it can only last for about 15min before it turn off straight away without giving me a sign board warning that the battery is low. if I re-charge it then only it’ll turn on again.

hello, sorry for the interruption, i’m torn apart, my out of warranty Compaq-Presario-V3500v have problem, when i turn the power on, all the lights are ok, but the screen were blank, i read thru the internet, most of it said that it’s the motherboard prob and to fix it it cost plus minus 1.5k, is it true? if it’s true, to me it’s worth more to buy the new one than sent it to repair. your opinion and suggestion are very much appreciated. thanks =]

@syafiq Yes it’s very likely that the graphic chip is faulty. Uninstall the graphic adapter driver and u should be able to use it. If the graphic chip is embed on the main board then have to change the whole board to repair, some laptop have the graphic chip separate from the board which is easily replaceable, and it’s cheaper to repair since u only need to change the graphic chip. If you think it’s not worth to repair you can uninstall the graphic adapter driver in safe mode and you will able to use the laptop but you won’t be able to play most game.
@hitomi You bought the laptop just 4 months ago? Bring it to HP Compaq service center to claim warranty. Click the service center locator above to locate a HP Compaq Service center. Normally laptop battery can use for 500-1000 recharge cycle before degrading to very low level.
@anas Is the screen back light on? is the hard disk indicator blinking? It’s not necessary main board faulty although it’s likely to be faulty main board. bring it to computer repair shop for them have a look. Yes replacing the main board is expensive and it’s usually not worth to repair. Get a laptop with 2~3 years warranty next time

@samuel last week i brought it to a computer repair shop, the person in charge there says that i have to send my laptop to factory to repair and he did not tell me what is wrong with the laptop. is there any other way that i can do to determine which faulty it is?

I live in Kedah, Malaysia. I got a big problem a few days ago with my Compaq Presario V3500 (V3828AU) with AMD inside.
The problem is I’ve updated the BIOS (Flash BIOS update as I remember) but the process has stopped in the middle without finish the whole process. After that, I tried to restart the laptop.
After power on, the screen just go blank (black color).
Then, I sent it to the local Pc repair shop. Hopefully they can do something. He called me back and told me all the components are OK (after some check-up) but the problem still the only BIOS start-up cannot get into any after all. He suggested me to get better technical support from Compaq branch in Penang if they can restore the original BIOS.
I just want to ask, is it possible I won’t need to replace any part inside the laptop in order to get the BIOS works back to normal? If it is possible, can you tell me how much the cost will be (roughly)? I’ll be waiting for your answer.

I accidentally spilled water on keyboard compaq laptop,I bought the laptop more than one year ago, laptop is now defunct, having brought to a computer shop, told the motherboard was damaged, how much to change the motherboard and if it pays off to make repairs? whether the other items that need to be changed?
@hiruma it can be mainboard problem also. better ask the person who diagnose your laptop what is the problem.
@kira Looks like you brick (corrupted bios) your laptop. Flashing BIOS is a risky process, if the flashing process is not successfully complete, the main board may be bricked. Always make sure u plug in battery and power adapter when u flash your bios.
They may able to recover the BIOS without changing the BIOS chip, or else the BIOS chip have to be replaced.
@adam Replacing motherboard is expensive often cost more than half the price of the laptop, and usually not worth to repair if it’s a low end laptop. Please ask the person who diagnose your laptop to quote you the replacement part and repair cost.

my compaq presario v3000(V3190TU) have had a problem of starting up.
it only showed the compaq start up during bios loading. after a few seconds, everything turned off. i tried with and without the battery pack and changed the charger adapter but to no avail. is this problem caused by faulty motherboard? what’s usually the cost of repairing such problem?
The center has told me if I want to repair then it will cost me for replacing a new mobo (motherboard). They don’t have the technical support for restoring default BIOS.
I have searched so many websites and what I’ve found that they said the BIOS can be restored with external floppy disk + diskette support + download the correct BIOS from HP site.
I just want to know, did the possibility to recover through the solution really exist?
@Rossi It can be faulty motherboard, faulty component or processor over heat. I cannot determine what is the problem without diagnose the laptop. Bring it to computer repair shop for them to diagnose and ask them to quote for you. If the cost is too high you may want to get a new laptop. Check out http://laptopmalaysia.my/laptop-price-list/. @Yebs It’s likely that the main board is faulty since u tried almost everything. here’s a link for information on error beep/led blink Troubleshooting LED Blink Codes or Beep Codes During Startup or Boot It’s not worth to replace the main board to repair the laptop in this case. I suggest u can salvage all other part that are ok (such as Hard disk, optical drive, ram and lcd screen) and then buy a new laptop with at least 2 years warranty. Laptop Buying Guide

Amado stop trying to on the laptop.Remove the laptop battery, put into box with few desiccant bag or uncooked rice to remove the moisture inside the laptop. This may recover the laptop. If that didn’t work bring it to repair shop.

Ken you cannot replace usb port as the port is embed on the main board. get a pcmcia/express card usb adapter.

ain it can be the battery or main board having problem, install touch pad software driver to enable the touch pad scroll capability. Cannot shut down is likely to be windows operating system problem.

My HP notebbok cannot be switched on. It was booting up, and i plugged in the braodbang modem, then everything died. The direct current power point was indicating blue before, now only faintly blinking. It won’t switched on. Is this due to power surege? Asked a repair shop and he suggested to buy a chasing where the harddisk can be removed and put in the casing and can be used elsewhere. Meanwhile, can send in the notebook and it costs RM380 for whatever repair it needs. Pls help, feel so sad and worried as I did not back up my data.

The moment you plug in the usb 3G modem and the laptop turn off then can never on again? It may be the USB device causing damage to the laptop but this is very rare. Power LED indicator blinking can be indicating laptop is in sleep mode or error. Try remove the battery and on with the power adapter plugged in.
Yes it’s likely the hard disk are still ok, they can remove the hard disk and put into external hard disk casing and then you can use as a usb external hard disk. Then you will able to access all your data. It works just like a usb thumb drive.
RM380 is still ok for repairing a laptop, provided that the laptop will be fully functional after repair.

Could this be power surge and the parts inside is fused. It’s not the LED indicator that’s blinking. It’s the direct current point, some notebook don’t have the circle but mine has the blue circle when current is running. The others indicators are not showing anything. Tried to remove the batery and plugged in the direct current, no response except the blue circle showing faint blue light (the adapter point). So, it’s not the battery.
Told that if my notebook has a window password, then even the harddisk is removed to put in the casing, I can see the data but can’t access, etc. So, have to send back to service centre. Is this true? Thought to abandon the notebook as long as I have my data.
How much does it cost to replace the motherboard and network card? If they can’t fix it, they will still charge RM30.

If the circle at the jack is faintly lit the power adapter may be damaged. measure the power adapter make sure the output is 18.5v. if the power adapter doesn’t output around 18.5 v then it’s faulty. you may want to try with another compatible power adapter.
You can access the data by changing the ownership of the file and folders in windows file permission, unless you have encrypted your data using EFS
I cannot quote you on replacing parts on your notebook, the network card is embed on the motherboard and it’s not replaceable. Yes they need to charge you for diagnose the notebook even it’s beyond repair.

Kelly here. I got my harddisk removed from the notebook and put in a casing. My data are still intact. Tested the power adapter, no problem. Went to the broadband service centre, the modem no problem. Tried the modem on PC, also no problem. Now, not sure it could be that particualr USB port which I plugged in the modem. Going to send the notebook to the repair shop and see if the RM380 will save my notebook. Just curious, will there be anymore data stored in my notebook (any embedded memory like the phones, etc) which will be accessed by outsiders even without the harddisk? Thanks for the earlier reply.

Glad to hear that your data are still intact, always back up your important data to other place than the HDD itself. There is no embedded memory that can store personal data on laptop, all personal data are stored into hard disk. Unless you have SD/memory card or disc inside your laptop, it’s almost impossible to retrieve personal data from the laptop after the hard disk is removed from the laptop.

If the screen is broken it will be at least RM500 and usually more than RM800 to replace the screen, if it’s only loosen/ broken cables then it won’t be that expensive. I cannot quote you without diagnose the laptop. bring it to repair shop and let them diagnose and quote you the cost of repair.

You have to determine what type of ram is it, whether it is DDR 1,2 or 3 and clock speed. You can bring to computer shop ask them to quote you for upgrading ram. Upgrading ram is most effective way to make your computer faster. For DDR2 800Mhz ram 2GB it should cost around RM120-RM150.

Hi, no display problem can be lossen screen cable, faulty main board pr other componenet problem. I cannot quote u without diagnose the laptop. If you bought this laptop not more than a year ago u can send to HP Compaq service center to clainm warranty, else bring to computer repair shop.

Hello Mina, you can send to the laptop maker service center but for damage cause by user usually not covered by warranty. Laptop screen are expensive to replace, usually from Rm600 to more than RM1000+

@Ken try to bend or move the cable without moving the connector, if it lose power while u moving the cable then it’s likely adapter problem. if it lose power while u moving the connector then it can be loosen power connector or laptop power jack.
I own a Compaq CQ35. It’s about 2 years old now. Recently it keeps overheating and then it goes on hibernation mode automatically, especially during games and movies and multiple browsing tabs opened. Online forums say that the heat sink may be clogged with dust and particles and the only thing i should do is to get it cleaned. I send my laptop for repaired and they told that my chipset is faulty. So i decided to repair it. After 1 month, occured new problem.
It is so hard for me to switch on my laptop as i have to tapped the ON button more than 300 times (that’s the minimum trial).
So I assumed that there might be problem with the ON button.
Again I send the laptop to be repaired and they told me that now my motherboard has become faulty. So here i would like to ask you, if a laptop with faulty motherboard, can it be switched ON? I’m so confused because now while typing this comment, my lappy was being told to have motherboard problem..

It can be due to faulty battery or faulty laptop motherboard, send to repair shop or claim warranty if it’s under warranty.
@lanuismA as a laptop motherboard integrate most of the component together, a faulty laptop motherboard can cause : No power, no display, cannot charge battery, blue screen and lots of possibility, the problem u described can be due to faulty power button or faulty motherboard.

Both Charger & Battery are completely new set, but not original since I couldn’t find it anywhere else at Low Yat Plaza or even HP. So on I have to get the after market product. Both item are running but on the power notification at the bar, it says that the charger is plugged in, but it’s not charging. But sometimes, it does charge. So it happens that the screen will run bright & dim (Power management setings by default)
I went back to the shop and change the battery and the charger to another new set. So on I tried again, it seems to be the same. So on I asked for a refund, and took the cash to buy it from some other outlet, which is also a after market item. Darn… It’s still the same…
So I was wondering, could this be the charger slot plug in problem? But if it’s the problem, the blue ring light wouldn’t light up, right? But it seems to have light, and the notifying message can even tell that the charger is plugged in but it’s not charging. And sometimes it’s plugged in and it’s charging.
So now I’m a little bit confuse, what could be the problem? anyone of you guys faced such problem before? Charger and Battery are new, and it gives you problem even know if you changed to another new set… I need some explanations here… And, this wouldn’t be the computers behavior to prevent battery over charged, right? Argh! Help~~~!!!

My compaq presario CQ40 is currently out of warranty. And i found that when i plug in the batteries without AC, it cannot be turn on. Only when i plug in the AC then it can be turn on. But even when i turn on, i doesn’t appear BIOS and everything was blank. One of the thing i could notice is that, the both LED white light keep on blinking after the laptop was switched on. 1st LED light is located on top of “Num lk” key, and 2nd LED light located on the side of “Caps Lock” key.

Hi, I have a Presario V3000 (3 years old) which I think has a faulty power button. It wont respond to pressing the button (and i have tried for almost 2 days). It’s not the first time it happened but the previous cases it somehow turned itself on after pressing it repeatedly (probably pressed it the right way or something…)
Is it possible to fix it? as in change the button or get an alternative way of turning it on? (There’s a quickplay button but it doesn’t work for some reason…)

@roy r can the laptop on without battery with only adapter plug in? if can the laptop can on with only adapter plugged in that means charger is ok, else the charger probably is faulty. it can also be battery totally wear out.

why compaq gets hot easily..? even though I use cooling pad while using the laptop, it doesnt reduce the heat at all. then when I stream a video, it gets stuck because it’s too hottt.

It’s likely the heat sink is stuffed with dust, you can send to service center if it’s under warranty, if it’s over warranty just send to computer repair shop. It also can be faulty fan,check whether the fan move while the laptop is on.

If you got the windows dvd, backup all your files to other place, boot from the dvd, proceed to format and install windows, use the product key written under your laptop.

Pastikan system volume tidak di keadaan “mute”, kalau system volume sudah adjust ke paling kuat tapi masih takda bunyi, hantar laptop ke service center, kamu tidak akan di caj untuk menbaiki kalau laptop masih di dalam tempoh warranty.
